How to Host the Ultimate Bachelorette Viewing Party

The next season of The Bachelorette is coming up quickly and we have everything you need to throw the ultimate viewing party. No matter who you’re rooting for this season, we all can agree that one of the best parts of the show is getting together with your gal pals and critiquing it all. Here are our tips for having an amazing get-together:

Get your brackets ready

The first step to throwing a Bachelor/Bachelorette viewing party is to have a bracket system in place for voting. If you aren’t familiar with the Bachelor/Bachelorette brackets, think of it as fantasy football for the show. Make your picks before each rose ceremony and rack up points against your friends. We recommend checking out Bach Bracket to get started!

Create the perfect signature cocktail.

No viewing party is complete without a signature drink! Whether you decide to keep the rosé flowing all night, or create a sophisticated champagne cocktail, we’ve got you covered. Try this classy floral cocktail that would make the perfect addition to your party!

All Rosé Everything

Since roses are such a big part of The Bachelor/Bachelorette, we thought it was only fitting to have a rosé theme going throughout the night! Have a rosé tasting with the many rosé bottles we offer, and make a cute “Will You Accept This Rosé?” sign to post up at the tasting table. Get fresh roses for your party and place them throughout your home. Want to really take the rosé theme to the next level? Try baking this delicious raspberry rosé cake and wow your guests with your skills!

Make an insta-worthy backdrop

Create a fun backdrop for your friends to snap photos all night. Whether you want to go with a simple gold streamer style drop, or try taping flowers all over your wall, you’re guaranteed some amazing event pics.

Fantasy Sweets

Last but not least, complete your party with a table of “Fantasy Sweets” (get it?) that everyone will go crazy for. To complement your raspberry rosé cake above, we recommend a variety of tastes and textures like red velvet brownies, macarons, and rose shaped cookies on a beautiful display.

How to Host an Oscars Party

Oscars2-23.jpg

Awards season is here! If you're anything like us, we love celebrating this season because it's another excuse to drink (and sell) wine! For an Oscar-themed party, we've put together popcorn pairings, printable ballots, and general tips to help you with hosting a viewing party. We hope you enjoy!

General hosting tips:

  1. Reach out to people in your network to see if they would like to throw an event to raise money for a cause of your choice. You can call it a "Awards Season Wine Party" or "Glitter Oscars Wine Party", something fun that would let your guests know about the activities that they will be partaking in.
  2. Work with your host to select a cause. We recommend one of our national cause partners.
  3. Schedule the event and send out invitations.
  4. Prepare for your party by getting Oscar-themed decorations, like fun glitter items, which can be found at your local craft store or even World Market. Some ideas are:
    • Gold Ribbon for decoration
    • Glitter you can sprinkle around a table
    • Photos or magazines of your favorite movie stars
    • Ballot printables to customize your event (see below)
  5. Suggest to your host that she order some of our wines to go with the theme of your party. Some suggestions for this event are:
    • Our Pinot Grigio and Italian Prosecco
    • Our Rose and Red Blends for some variety
    • Our Gold or Silver Glitter Sparkling Brut to add some sparkle (you can even have these act as the Oscars that people receive)!
  6. At the Event: Be sure to educate your guests on the cause they are supporting with their eligible event purchases.

Dark Chocolate Sea Salt Popcorn

10 cups popped popcorn

4 Tablespoons grapeseed oil

6 Tablespoons hot chocolate powder

Sea salt to taste

Sprinkle with grated dark chocolate

Pair this delectable popcorn with our 29Twelve Dessert wine, which is full of blackberry fruit with hints of quince. Baking spices like cardamom and nutmeg add richness. Our dessert wine finished with sweet tobacco and a long warm finish, which will pair nicely with the decadence of this chocolate popcorn! What a treat!

G2G Stills-2.jpg

Mimosa Popcorn

 10 cups popped popcorn

 4 Tablespoons grapeseed oil

 1/4 cup fresh orange juice

 5 Tablespoons vanilla protein powder

Zest of 1 orange

Sea salt to taste

Pair this popcorn with our Italian Prosecco or the Italian Pinot Grigio! The Pinot Grigio has hints of fresh flowers and lemon and lime, which will compliment the orange zest used in the popcorn. The Prosecco will add a bubbly sweetness to the popcorn, but is not too overly sweet.

G2G Stills-4.jpg

Maple Bacon Popcorn

10 cups popped popcorn

4 Tablespoons grapeseed oil

1/4 Cup maple syrup

4 pieces cooked bacon, chopped

Sea salt to taste

Bacon lovers rejoice! Pair this sweet and salty popcorn with our Napa Valley Reserve Red Blend. Red blends are full of personality and this wine is stuffed with fruit. Pretty black cherry and plum flesh deliver juiciness to a palate full of fine grain tannin. Aromatic cinnamon and dark cocoa persist well into the finish. The fruitiness of this wine compliments the savoriness of the bacon. YUM!

G2G Stills-3.jpg

Strawberry Popcorn

10 cups kettle corn

1/2 cup dehydrated strawberries, ground into powder

This recipe is very easy to make, you only need two ingredients! Pair this popcorn with our Sonoma County Reserve Rose Wine, which has notes of white rose and juicy blackberry. All the berries will compliment each other and it will taste just like a fruit salad!

This Fall, #DrinkPink & Support Women's Health

September is Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month and October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. This year our #DrinkPink campaign focuses on the power of women supporting women by raising funds for women's health causes. Consider holding a Pink Party celebrating female empowerment where 10% of sales support a women's health cause. We recommend our national cause partners, the Ovarian Cancer Research Fund Alliance (OCRFA) or Gateway for Cancer Research but there are many local organizations doing great work to consider. Cheers to women supporting women!

How to Throw a Pink Party

Your Pink Party does not have to be extravagant to be a great event. Check out the suggestions below to get started. Also, see the Before an Event page for more information about standard pre-event prep.

  1. Reach out to people in your network to see if they would like to throw an event to raise money for a women's health cause. Position it as a fun girls' get together, an opportunity to try and learn about some amazing wines, and raise money for women's health causes at the same time.
  2. Work with your host to select a women's health cause. We recommend one of our national cause partners, the Ovarian Cancer Research Fund Alliance (OCRFA), which works to prevent ovarian cancer by educating women on their risk and the symptoms of ovarian cancer, or Gateway for Cancer Research, which provides clinical trials for women with breast cancer.
  3. Schedule the event and send out invitations.
  4. Suggest to your host that she order some of our #DrinkPink wines supporting women's health causes to go with the theme of your party. They are:
    • Any of our Rosé wines (all support ovarian cancer prevention)
    • Our California Chardonnay and Pink Glitter Chardonnay support breast cancer clinical trials
  5. At the Event: Be sure to educate your guests on the cause they are supporting with their eligible event purchases.

About Our Cause Partner: OCRFA

The Ovarian Cancer Research Fund Alliance (OCRFA) is our cause partner for our entire rosé collection. OCRFA advances ovarian cancer research while supporting women and their families. Their mission is to promote, advocate for and support scientific research as it relates to the causes, prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and cure for ovarian cancer; to provide education about ovarian cancer; to promote, advocate for and provide supportive services to persons affected by ovarian cancer; and to foster alliances to further those purposes.

OCRFA is the largest non-government funder of ovarian cancer research in the U.S. – and has the longest track record of impact.  Since 1998, they have invested $75 million to jumpstart promising research.  Every day, OCRFA-funded scientists are improving women’s lives by finding new ways to prevent ovarian cancer, developing better methods to treat it, and pioneering pathways to cure it.

Every bottle of ONEHOPE Rosé helps to prevent ovarian cancer by educating women on their risk and the symptoms of the disease.

ABOUT OUR CAUSE PARTNER: GATEWAY FOR CANCER RESEARCH

Gateway's mission is to fund meaningful and breakthrough clinical trials worldwide that help people living with cancer to feel better, live longer and conquer cancer today!

Cancer patients feel better and live longer. Gateway's quality of life and burden of treatment focus sets it apart from other cancer research organizations. For individual patients, as well as the future of cancer treatment, clinical trials represent the best probability of ending cancer without reducing quality of life to an unacceptable degree.

Gateway invests in breakthrough research that is both targeted and precise. Most cancer drugs do not receive a positive response from the majority of patients due to unique genetics and differences among individuals. With the level of genetic and cell protein data now available, Gateway invests in therapies targeted to the specific biology, characteristics and environment of each patient.

99 cents of every dollar Gateway receives goes directly to fund Phase I and Phase II clinical trials. Phase I and Phase II clinical trials are underfunded, yet have the greatest patient impact in conquering cancer. Thanks to generous underwriting, 99 cents of every dollar received funds cancer clinical trials. Gateway believes that if you donate to cancer research, your donation should go to cancer research.

Every bottle of our California Chardonnay helps provide clinical trials for patients with breast cancer through Gateway for Cancer Research.

International Women's Day - March 8, 2017

International Women's Day - March 8, 2017

International Women's Day celebrates the social and economic achievements of women around the globe and raises awareness around the work that still needs to be done to achieve gender equity. This year's theme is #BeBoldForChange. We invite our viaONEHOPE community to join in on the action and host an event that raises funds for organizations promoting girls' education and empowerment or women's professional achievement. See our list of some great national organizations you can give back to, or find a local group that supports women and girls.
