Summer BBQ + Wine Pairings

This summer barbecue and wine pairing themed party is a fun way to gather friends together and raise money for a veteran's cause at the same time!

Let's Get Cookin'

See the steps below to get your cookout event in full swing! Also, see the Before an Event page for more information about standard pre-event prep.

  1. Reach out to people in your network to host an event supporting a veteran's cause. Position it as a fun and casual barbecue (potluck style if you wish), an opportunity to try and learn about some amazing wines, and raise money for vets at the same time.
  2. Work with your host to select a veteran's cause. We recommend our longtime cause partner, Team Rubicon (more information on TR below).
  3. Schedule the event and send out invitations.
  4. If you're going to go "potluck style," coordinate with guests about who is bringing what (see our special barbecue recipes below or select your own).
  5. Pick the wines: select wines that go best with your barbecue menu (see pairings below). Be sure to include our California Zin and/or California Red Blend which give back to Team Rubicon!
  6. At the Event: Be sure to educate your guests on the cause they are supporting with their eligible event purchases.

About Our Cause Partner: Team Rubicon

Disasters are their business. Veterans are their passion. Team Rubicon unites the skills and experiences of military veterans with first responders to rapidly deploy emergency response teams. Since their founding in January 2010 in the wake of the Haiti earthquake, they've responded to more than 150 disasters across the world while helping veterans rediscover a sense of purpose, community, and identity often lost after taking off the uniform.

Through continued service, Team Rubicon seeks to provide our veterans with three things they lose after leaving the military: a purpose, gained through disaster relief; community, built by serving with others; and self-worth, from recognizing the impact one individual can make. Coupled with leadership development and other opportunities, Team Rubicon looks to help veterans transition from military to civilian life.
